Guru Purnima 2026: Astrologer Dr Manju Joshi Explains the Spiritual Significance and Auspicious Planetary Renowned Uttarakhand astrologer and author Dr Manju Joshi has extended heartfelt greetings to devotees on the occasion of Guru Purnima 2026, highlighting the festival’s profound spiritual, religious and philosophical significance. She noted that the guidance of a true Guru not only transforms an individual’s life but also instils a sense of responsibility towards society, the nation and humanity.Dr Joshi also described Guru Purnima as Vyasa Purnima, commemorating the birth anniversary of Maharishi Ved Vyasa, the sage credited with classifying the Vedas and authoring the Mahabharata and the eighteen Puranas, thereby preserving the foundations of Sanatan Dharma.Auspicious Planetary Alignments According to Dr Joshi, Guru Purnima on July 29, 2026, will be astrologically significant due to several favourable planetary positions:
- Jupiter will be exalted in Cancer alongside the Sun, creating the auspicious Guru Aditya Yoga, considered highly beneficial for spiritual growth, learning and divine blessings.
- The Full Moon will transit Capricorn through the Uttara Ashadha and Shravana constellations, strengthening mental stability and spiritual determination.
- Mercury will remain in its own sign, Gemini, enhancing intellect, communication and learning.
- Saturn in Pisces and Venus in Leo are expected to promote self-reflection, devotion and higher consciousness.
- The presence of Preeti Yoga and Ayushman Yoga will further enhance the spiritual importance of the day.
Puja Timings. Dr Joshi stated that the Purnima Tithi begins at 6:18 pm on July 28 and concludes at 8:05 pm on July 29. The recommended time for Guru worship is from 5:41 am to 9:05 am, while moonrise is expected at 7:15 pm on July 29.
Worship and Charity She advised devotees to begin the day with a holy bath, clean their home shrine with Ganga water, observe a fast, and worship Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva before offering prayers to their Guru. Devotees are encouraged to donate food, clothes, milk, rice, turmeric and lentils, recite the Vishnu Sahasranama, prepare kheer as an offering, and seek blessings from their parents, especially mothers, whom she described as a person’s first visible Guru.Concluding her message, Dr Manju Joshi said that Guru Purnima is an ideal occasion for those seeking mental peace, clarity and spiritual direction.
