Amid the ongoing Sawan pilgrimage season, Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) Chairman Hemant Dwivedi personally walked along the Kedarnath trekking route to assess ground-level arrangements and take direct feedback from pilgrims and local traders.
Dwivedi inspected key stretches of the pilgrimage route on foot and interacted with devotees to understand their experience of the ongoing yatra, including the availability of essential facilities and the challenges being faced during the monsoon season.
He also met small traders and local entrepreneurs operating along the route, many of whom depend heavily on the annual Kedarnath pilgrimage for their livelihood. Dwivedi listened to their concerns, experiences and suggestions regarding the conduct of the pilgrimage.The inspection comes as large numbers of devotees continue to make their way to Kedarnath Dham despite persistent rainfall, steep climbs and difficult Himalayan conditions. Pilgrims are arriving to seek the blessings of Baba Kedar and offer Jalabhishek to Lord Shiva, with adverse weather conditions doing little to diminish their faith.The determination of devotees undertaking the arduous journey reflects the deep spiritual significance of Kedarnath, one of the most revered shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva.The focus on on-ground inspection and direct interaction with pilgrims and local stakeholders is aimed at ensuring that the pilgrimage remains safe, well-managed and accessible while also supporting communities whose livelihoods are closely linked to the yatra.Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly highlighted the importance of the development and modernisation of Kedarnath, while Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has continued to stress pilgrim safety, improved infrastructure and better facilities across the Char Dham pilgrimage circuit.With the monsoon continuing to pose operational challenges in the Himalayan region, ground-level monitoring and timely response remain crucial to ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage for devotees visiting Kedarnath.
