PAC Constable Dies of Electrocution While Repairing Power Fault in Rudrapur
Rudrapur: In a tragic accident, a constable of the 31st Battalion PAC died after being electrocuted while attempting to repair an electrical fault near his residence in Udham Singh Nagar district.
The deceased was identified as 36-year-old Dharmendra Singh Rawat, son of Lal Singh Rawat. He belonged to the 2011 batch and was posted as a constable in D Company of the 31st Battalion PAC. He lived with his family in Bagwada Green View Colony, Rudrapur.
According to officials, Rawat completed his duty at around 4 p.m. on Monday and returned home. When a power-related technical problem occurred at his residence, he climbed an electricity pole to fix the issue. During the repair work, he suddenly came into contact with a live electric current and fell from the pole, suffering a severe head injury.
Family members and local residents rushed him to a private hospital, from where he was referred to the district hospital after initial treatment. Doctors at the district hospital declared him dead after examination.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Dharmendra Singh Rawat is survived by his wife and two children. His untimely death has left the family devastated.
Mithilesh Singh, Assistant Commandant of the 31st Battalion PAC, said that Rawat was serving in D Company and was residing at his private accommodation with departmental permission. The accident occurred after he had returned home following the completion of his duty.
The news of Rawat’s death has sent a wave of grief through the 31st Battalion PAC, with officers and personnel expressing deep sorrow. Residents across the area have also mourned the tragic loss.
