Inter-Divisional RPF Volleyball, Athletics and Cross-Country Championship 2026 Begins at Izzatnagar
Bareilly, The five-day Inter-Divisional Railway Protection Force Volleyball, Athletics and Cross-Country Championship–2026 of Northeast Railway commenced on Tuesday at the Railway Sports Stadium, Road No. 4, Izzatnagar, under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Ms. Veena Sinha.
The championship, being held from July 14 to July 18, 2026, was inaugurated by Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, Izzatnagar, Mr. Mithun Soni, who cut the ribbon for the volleyball event and interacted with the participating players.
Teams from Izzatnagar, Lucknow and Varanasi divisions are participating in the tournament. More than 80 players will compete in volleyball, athletics and cross-country events during the five-day sporting meet.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Mithun Soni said that sports are not merely a medium of competition but also an effective means of strengthening both physical and mental fitness. He emphasized that regular sports activities help RPF personnel remain stress-free, improve their physical capabilities, and prepare them to perform effectively in challenging situations.
He further stated that games such as volleyball, athletics and cross-country enhance team spirit, discipline, leadership skills and mutual coordination. Such competitions promote healthy rivalry as well as cooperation, harmony and brotherhood among players from different divisions, thereby strengthening organizational unity and efficiency.
Divisional officials, Sports Secretary Mrs. Geeta Sharma, RPF officers and personnel, a large number of athletes, and sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
