A delegation met Principal Secretary (Energy & Irrigation) R. Meenakshi Sundaram at the Uttarakhand Secretariat in Dehradun on Tuesday and urged the government to expedite several key infrastructure and public utility projects in the Haldwani–Lalkuan region.
During the meeting, the delegation requested the immediate commencement of reconstruction work on the damaged Gaulapar parallel canal near Kathgodam. They also sought implementation of Chief Minister Announcement No. 399/2025, which relates to the Gaula and Nandhaur River flood protection scheme.
The delegation further demanded action under Chief Minister Announcement No. 589/2026 for covering the Jamrani Canal from Bachhipur Beripadaw to Teenpani, a project aimed at improving safety and infrastructure management along the canal stretch.
In the energy sector, the delegation urged the Principal Secretary to implement Chief Minister Announcement No. 716/2026 by establishing a new 33/11 kV substation at Halduchaud and constructing a new 33 kV transmission line to ensure high-quality electricity supply in the Lalkuan–Bindukhatta area.
They also requested action under Chief Minister Announcement No. 713/2026 for providing electricity supply to Sri Lanka Tapu from Sitarganj.
Demand for Land Ownership Rights
Later, the delegation met Secretary S. N. Pandey at the Secretariat and discussed land-related issues affecting residents of Lalkuan.
The delegation requested implementation of the recently issued government order granting ownership rights to 24 residents of Lalkuan town. It also urged the government to begin regularisation of all categories of land across the state in accordance with the recommendations of the committee constituted under the chairmanship of Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal.
According to the delegation, early implementation of the committee’s recommendations would provide long-awaited relief to thousands of landholders across Uttarakhand and help resolve several pending land ownership and regularisation issues.
