17 Delhi Metro Stations Remain Shut Amid Protests; Entry and Exit Suspended Since Early Morning

Report by Swati

New Delhi  24 July 2026

Security has been tightened across the national capital as 17 Delhi Metro stations remain closed on Friday amid ongoing protests. Authorities suspended both entry and exit at the affected stations from 7:30 AM as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.Among the stations impacted is Rajiv Chowk, one of Delhi Metro’s busiest interchange hubs, along with 16 other strategically important stations. While train services may continue to pass through some of the affected stations, passengers are not being allowed to enter or exit where restrictions are in place. The closures come in response to demonstrations in parts of the city, with security agencies deploying additional personnel at sensitive locations to prevent any untoward incidents.Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has advised commuters to check the latest travel updates before beginning their journey and to use alternate routes wherever possible.Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate with security arrangements, avoid crowded protest areas, and follow official advisories until normal operations are restored.
