Railway Minister to Launch Direct Ramnagar–Dehradun Train Service on July 18

In a major boost to rail connectivity in Uttarakhand, the government has approved a direct train service between Ramnagar and Dehradun. The new service will be inaugurated on July 18 by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The announcement has brought relief to residents of Ramnagar and nearby areas who had been demanding a direct rail link to the state capital for a long time. The service is expected to reduce travel time and provide a convenient transportation option for passengers.
Member of Parliament Anil Baluni thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the long-pending demand. He said the direct train connection would not only benefit local commuters but also strengthen trade, tourism, and pilgrimage travel in the region.
According to Baluni, the train will initially operate on a trial basis for two days. Railway authorities will then assess passenger response before finalizing regular operations.
The MP said the service would particularly benefit tourists visiting Jim Corbett National Park and devotees traveling to various religious destinations in Uttarakhand.
Baluni also highlighted that the recently opened Dhangarhi Bridge has improved road connectivity, and the new rail service will further enhance transportation facilities between Ramnagar and Dehradun.
Local residents and business associations have welcomed the decision, describing it as a significant step toward improving infrastructure and economic activity in the Kumaon region.
With the launch scheduled for July 18, the Ramnagar–Dehradun direct train service is expected to become an important link connecting the foothills of Kumaon with the state capital.
