BJP MP and popular Bhojpuri actor-singer Manoj Tiwari landed in the spotlight after sharing an incorrect photograph in connection with the ongoing BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
Tiwari shared the image on social media while commenting on the BRICS proceedings. However, the photograph was not actually from the 2026 BRICS Summit. After the error was noticed, the post was deleted.
Tiwari subsequently apologised for the mistake, acknowledging that the image had been shared inadvertently. The episode quickly attracted attention on social media, where users pointed out the discrepancy and questioned the authenticity of the photograph.The incident comes as New Delhi hosts the 18th BRICS Summit, bringing together leaders of the expanded 11-member grouping. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are among the prominent leaders attending the summit. The BRICS meeting is taking place against the backdrop of major geopolitical tensions, including the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Leaders are discussing issues ranging from global governance and economic cooperation to sanctions, trade and the concerns of developing countries. Tiwari’s decision to remove the post and apologise after the error was flagged has once again highlighted the importance of verifying photographs and other visual material before sharing political or international-event updates on social media.
