By Swati

New Delhi, September 11, 2026:

The BRICS 2026 platform is opening new avenues for cooperation across high-growth sectors including information technology, software, robotics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and medical devices, according to BKTC Chairman Hemant Dwivedi.

Hemant Dwivedi said the evolving BRICS framework should be viewed as more than a geopolitical grouping, with its growing relevance extending to technology, innovation, healthcare, manufacturing and economic cooperation.

According to Hemant Dwivedi, the IT and software sectors offer significant opportunities for BRICS economies, particularly in artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, advanced software solutions and technology-driven services. Hemant Dwivedi also underlined the potential of robotics and emerging technologies to accelerate industrial productivity and create new avenues for skilled employment.

Dwivedi further highlighted the strategic importance of the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. Hemant Dwivedi said greater cooperation in biotechnology, generic medicines, APIs and medical devices could strengthen supply chains, promote innovation and contribute to wider access to affordable healthcare.

The BKTC Chairman said BRICS must focus on building a balanced, resilient and inclusive economic architecture, enabling member countries to leverage their respective strengths in technology, manufacturing, healthcare and human capital.

Hemant Dwivedi also stressed that the expansion of cooperation into emerging industries could generate opportunities for investment, entrepreneurship, skill development and knowledge-sharing among BRICS nations.

The remarks assume significance as BRICS continues to expand its economic and strategic footprint, with technology, healthcare and industrial cooperation becoming increasingly important components of the grouping’s broader agenda.
