Social worker Vishal Verma, former municipal councillor candidate Anjali Verma and residents of Ward 19, Rampur Road, have expressed their gratitude to Nainital District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Ryal after reconstruction work finally commenced on a long-neglected road in Vishnupuri Temple Gali No. 10.
The road had reportedly remained dug up for nearly 10 months following sewerage work undertaken by the Jal Nigam. Despite completion of the sewer-related work, residents alleged that restoration of the road was delayed, creating significant inconvenience and safety concerns.
Vishal Verma said he had repeatedly raised the issue through protests and representations, highlighting what he described as negligence by Jal Nigam officials and the contractor. He had also submitted a memorandum to District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Ryal on July 18, 2026, seeking immediate intervention.
According to Verma, the District Magistrate had assured residents that road reconstruction would begin once the monsoon subsided. Following the intervention, CC road construction work has now commenced in the affected stretch.
Former councillor candidate Anjali Verma said that while sewerage work on the Rampur Road–Vishnupuri stretch had been completed, the failure to restore the road for months had exposed residents to considerable hardship. The damaged and uneven surface had reportedly increased the risk of accidents, particularly for elderly people, women and children.
She further said that dust and mud generated by the unfinished road had added to residents’ concerns, while daily movement through the locality had become increasingly difficult.
Vishal Verma said sewerage infrastructure was being developed across Haldwani and that roads should be restored promptly after completion of underground works. He alleged that delays of eight to ten months in road restoration in some areas reflected administrative negligence and inadequate monitoring of contractors.
With the commencement of the CC work in Vishnupuri Temple Gali No. 10, Vishal Verma, Anjali Verma and local residents thanked District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Ryal for taking cognisance of their grievance and facilitating the long-awaited reconstruction.
The residents also urged the concerned departments to ensure that future sewerage projects are followed by timely and quality restoration of roads to prevent prolonged disruption to public life.
