RAISEN, Madhya Pradesh — Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan drew attention during his one-day visit to Raisen after a journalist questioned him about the rising prices of sugar in the country.

The interaction took place as Chouhan was leaving a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA). As he stood up from his chair to conclude the meeting, reporters asked about expensive sugar. Responding briefly, Chouhan said that arrangements were being made and urged people not to worry, without elaborating further on the issue.

Earlier in the day, the Union Minister participated in several educational and development programmes in Raisen. He attended an event at the Government Girls College, interacted with students, honoured meritorious Class 10 and 12 students with laptops and certificates, and inaugurated a newly constructed computer laboratory.

Chouhan also encouraged female students to continue their education and said that financial hardship should never become a barrier for talented daughters pursuing higher studies. He interacted with students from government colleges across the district through video conferencing and encouraged them to make timely scholarship applications.

During the final leg of his visit, Chouhan chaired the DISHA committee review meeting at the Collectorate, where he reviewed the implementation of central government schemes with district officials and instructed departments to ensure quality and timely completion of development projects.

The brief exchange over sugar prices became one of the most discussed moments of the visit, as concerns over increasing retail sugar prices continue to attract public attention across several parts of the country.
