Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi staged a protest outside the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi, demanding registration of an FIR in an alleged pellet gun injury case.
Rahul Gandhi met the alleged victim, Sahil, and his mother before sitting on a dharna outside the police station. He demanded that the Delhi Police register an FIR and said he would not leave until the case was registered.
According to the Congress, Sahil allegedly suffered a serious eye injury after being hit by a pellet gun during a protest at Jantar Mantar. The party claimed that Sahil and his mother had repeatedly approached the police seeking registration of an FIR, but their request was not acted upon.
Congress leaders further alleged that no investigation or IO number was provided on Sahil’s complaint, while his medico-legal case (MLC) report from AIIMS was also allegedly not made available for use in the FIR.
Rahul Gandhi questioned why an FIR had not been registered despite the written complaint. He also sought details of the police investigation and accused the authorities of ignoring the victim’s concerns.
The Congress alleged that repeated attempts were made to approach the Delhi Police, including through email and phone calls, but no IO number was provided. Rahul Gandhi has now demanded immediate action and said he would continue to fight for the affected students.
