A fresh political and legal controversy has emerged over the alleged inclusion of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s name in the electoral roll in 1980, years before she formally acquired Indian citizenship.
- The issue has resurfaced after the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi on September 21 set aside an earlier order of the magistrate that had rejected a plea seeking registration of an FIR in connection with the allegations. The matter has now been sent back for fresh consideration. The next hearing is scheduled for September 29.
