A disturbing video showing a young man allegedly being locked inside a dog cage and assaulted has gone viral on social media, prompting police action in Punjab’s Patiala district.
According to police, the victim has been identified as Prince, a tipper driver. The incident reportedly took place last week following a road accident involving a tipper driven by him in Ropar.
The viral video purportedly shows the young man confined inside a dog cage while being subjected to physical assault. The footage also appears to show him being forced to rub his nose on the ground before being beaten with slippers.
Police said that following the accident, allegations were made against the tipper owner, including the alleged abduction and assault of Prince. Patiala SP Mohit Aggarwal said the police took action after the video surfaced and that some of the accused have been arrested.
An FIR was registered on October 1 under Sections 140(2), 127(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police are examining the viral footage and investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction and assault. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further action will follow based on the evidence.
