Prime Minister Narendra Modi has delivered a strong message at the BRICS platform, warning that the weaponisation of technology, critical minerals and strategic supply chains could become a major obstacle to global economic growth and shared prosperity.
Addressing the BRICS Business Forum during the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, PM Modi emphasised the need for resilient and diversified supply chains, greater economic cooperation and stronger partnerships among member countries. He stressed that strategic resources and emerging technologies should contribute to development rather than become instruments of geopolitical pressure.

He noted that the expanded grouping represents a significant share of the world’s population, economy and trade.
Critical Minerals at the Centre of Global Competition
Critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel and rare earth elements are increasingly important for electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, batteries, electronics and advanced technologies.
Against this backdrop, ensuring stable access to these resources has become a major economic and strategic priority for countries around the world. The BRICS declaration also highlighted cooperation on critical mineral resources, energy security and resilient supply chains.
