MUMBAI: Five years after the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, questions surrounding the circumstances of her death continue to generate political and legal controversy.Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise building in Mumbai. The death was initially treated as a suicide/accidental-death case, but her family has since questioned that conclusion and demanded a fresh investigation. In 2025, Disha’s father, Satish Salian, approached authorities and the Bombay High Court, alleging that his daughter was murdered and that the case was subsequently covered up. His complaint named several prominent figures, including Aaditya Thackeray and former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, along with others. These remain allegations made by the family and their lawyer, not established findings of guilt. The Param Bir Singh Question .One of the most explosive allegations concerns former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. Disha’s father’s lawyer alleged that Singh played a central role in an alleged cover-up and acted to protect political interests. The complaint also accused other officials and individuals of involvement. The allegations have intensified demands for answers: Was every piece of evidence properly examined? Were all witnesses questioned? And was the original investigation completely transparent? The Family Says the Suicide Theory Needs to Be Re-examined .Disha’s father has repeatedly maintained that he was initially led to believe that his daughter had died by suicide and later came to suspect that crucial information had not been disclosed to him.The family has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the death and has demanded a fresh probe. Some claims circulating publicly — including assertions concerning the absence of blood stains or alleged manipulation of forensic evidence — should, however, be independently verified through official forensic and post-mortem records before being treated as facts. Why the Case Continues to Raise Questions .Disha Salian’s death occurred just days before the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, with whom she had worked professionally. The proximity of the two deaths triggered enormous public speculation.Mumbai Police had previously said they found no connection between the two deaths. Yet the continuing allegations by Disha’s family have ensured that the case remains politically sensitive.Thackeray Name at the Centre of the ControversyThe allegations against Aaditya Thackeray have been strongly contested, and he has not been convicted of any offence in connection with Disha Salian’s death. The issue nevertheless returned to the spotlight after Disha’s father formally sought an FIR and a fresh investigation. Reports in March 2025 said the complaint was accepted by the Mumbai Police authorities. The central question now is straightforward: If there is nothing to hide, why should a genuinely independent investigation be feared? At the same time, if the allegations cannot be substantiated, the investigation must establish that clearly as well.Justice Means Finding the Truth .The demand for “Justice for Disha” should ultimately mean one thing — finding the truth through credible evidence, forensic records, witness testimony and an investigation free from political influence. The public deserves answers, but those answers must come from evidence, not speculation. Was Disha’s death thoroughly investigated? Were all relevant records preserved? Were political pressures involved? And were the family’s questions properly addressed? These are questions that can only be settled through a transparent and legally credible investigation.Justice for Disha should not be about political camps. It should be about the truth
