Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that while people-to-people relations between countries may be temporarily suspended during war or periods of heightened tension, they should not be permanently severed.
Speaking on India’s relations with Pakistan and China, Bhagwat noted that it is often argued that there should be no communication with these countries during times of conflict. However, he said that channels of dialogue should not be closed indefinitely and that circumstances should determine the scope of engagement.
Bhagwat emphasized that India’s objective is not to destroy any nation but to work toward lasting peace and a sustainable resolution to conflicts. He added that, whenever appropriate and in line with national interests, avenues for communication and dialogue should remain available.
The RSS chief’s remarks have drawn attention amid ongoing discussions on India’s approach toward its neighbours, particularly Pakistan. His comments are expected to spark debate in political and strategic circles over the balance between national security concerns and maintaining diplomatic engagement.
The statement comes at a time when India continues to maintain a firm stance on cross-border terrorism while emphasizing that any engagement with Pakistan must be guided by national interests and security considerations.
