3 Idiots’ Actor Omi Vaidya Extends Support to Sonam Wangchuk Amid Hunger Strike
New Delhi:
Bollywood actor Omi Vaidya, who became widely popular for portraying the memorable character “Chatur Ramalingam” in the blockbuster film 3 Idiots, has publicly extended his support to renowned Ladakhi education reformer and environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk.
Sonam Wangchuk is currently on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, demanding attention to issues concerning Ladakh and environmental protection. Expressing concern over Wangchuk’s deteriorating health, Omi Vaidya urged both the public and the media to take the matter seriously and ensure that his demands receive due attention.
In his appeal, the actor emphasized that Wangchuk has consistently worked for sustainable development, education reforms, and environmental conservation in the Himalayan region. He called upon citizens across the country to remain informed about the ongoing protest and support peaceful democratic efforts aimed at safeguarding the interests of local communities and fragile mountain ecosystems.
Wangchuk’s hunger strike has been drawing increasing attention from activists, students, environmental groups, and public figures, with many expressing solidarity and urging authorities to engage in meaningful dialogue.
The development has once again brought national focus on Ladakh-related concerns and the broader debate surrounding environmental sustainability and regional governance.
